South Park’s Trump-Satan sexual intercourse clip gains fake apology, White House fury
(MENAFN) South Park co-creator Trey Parker issued a sarcastic apology for the show’s controversial portrayal of former US President Donald Trump in its latest episode, which depicted him in a sexual scene with Satan and mocked his anatomy. Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, Parker jokingly said, “We’re terribly sorry,” prompting laughter from the audience.
The episode, which aired Wednesday, drew criticism from the White House. Spokeswoman Taylor Rogers dismissed it as “a desperate attempt for attention,” claiming the long-running show had not been relevant in two decades. She defended Trump’s record, calling it unmatched in terms of delivering on promises.
Parker revealed that attempts were made to tone down the content, but he refused to allow censorship of a blurred image of Trump’s genitalia. The episode also ridiculed Paramount, referencing its recent $16 million legal settlement with Trump and its decision to cancel The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Despite this, Parker and co-creator Matt Stone recently inked a $1.5 billion deal with Paramount to stream South Park.
The episode also featured Jesus Christ as a character, warning the town of South Park against fighting Trump in court, referencing the cancellation of CBS programs and implying it could happen to them too. CBS announced The Late Show would end by May, prompting accusations from the Writers Guild of America that the cancellation was politically motivated following Trump’s lawsuit over biased election coverage.
