Hundreds Gather to Protest Gaza Starvation Crisis Outside Trump Hotel
(MENAFN) Hundreds of demonstrators converged outside the Trump International Hotel in New York City on Monday, rallying against what they described as Israel’s deliberate starvation campaign in Gaza.
The protest, led by the Jewish-American anti-occupation organization IfNotNow, took place at Columbus Circle under the slogan “Trump: Jews Say No More.” The group demanded an immediate end to the war in Gaza and unrestricted access for humanitarian assistance.
According to media, protesters carried signs bearing strong messages such as “Stop ethnic cleansing,” “Never again is now,” “Stop starving Gaza,” and “Not in our name.”
“Let’s not mince words, the Israeli government’s blockade of Gaza is a policy of ethnic cleansing by way of forced mass starvation,” said Morriah Kaplan, interim executive director of IfNotNow, during her address to the crowd.
She further urged U.S. officials to intervene, stating the government must “use its considerable leverage to end these horrors.”
The demonstration drew a heavy police response, with the New York Police Department arresting over 40 participants during the event.
Despite mounting international pressure for a ceasefire, Israel has continued its military assault on Gaza since October 7, 2023. The offensive has claimed the lives of nearly 61,000 Palestinians, almost half of whom are women and children, and has pushed the territory to the brink of famine.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.
Simultaneously, Israel is also under legal scrutiny at the International Court of Justice, where it faces accusations of genocide over its actions in the besieged enclave.
